September 2011 was the second time I did not update the Ouimette Online Newsletter
since it began back in 2000. When I first began the newsletter I realized it was a great
way to keep in touch with family and friends around the world. My dad very innocently
made a comment that online websites never last more than a few months. I know he
didn't mean it as a challenge, but I decided then that I would update the Ouimette Online
Newsletter once a month each month so as not to ever get so far behind that I would just
give it up. Besides, trying to get back into the habit of writing and calling to keep in touch
with family and friends became much more difficult after kids!
Well, I did not update the website back in September of 2006 when Thomas and I were at
Strong Hospital and I did not update the website this past month during Maya's failing
health and after Dad's stroke. I told Dad tonight that I was working on this "issue" and he
told me that I could "blame him" for not getting an update done last month. September
photos will be coming... but for now I want to say, "THANKS DAD!" for the original
"encouragement" to keep updates happening!

October 2, 2011 Bethan brought her viola when we visited Grandpa Bender this evening. Bethan started viola lessons 2 weeks ago. She has not yet begun using the bow. She first needs to learn to "pluck" with her fingers. Viola practice is not really exciting and sometimes Bethan gets blisters on her finger. It will be awhile before Bethan will be able to play a song with the viola - but she will! Grandpa sometimes finds therapy a bit monotonous as he has to repeat the same movements over and over again. But, with time Grandpa too will show improvements and regain much of his lost movements and independence. In this picture, Grandpa was moving his left foot to Bethan's plucking. |
