Laura's Uncle Ken died on January 23, 2006. He
was on a waiting list to receive a heart transplant and
got a call that Sunday to report to the Albany Heart
Unit for the transplant surgery to occur that night.
Uncle Ken suffered a fatal heart attack before getting
to the Heart Unit. He celebrated his 60th birthday
one week earlier.
Laura credits Uncle Ken for a good life after he
caught her from flying through the front windshield
during an auto accident four decades ago. Laura's
sister Gail is certain that the angels are giggling since
Uncle Ken's arrival in heaven, most likely learning the
words to the famous camp songs that Uncle Ken
taught us about beans being a magical fruit.
